Actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau will play a character in an upcoming episode of Fox’s “The Simpsons,” according to Entertainment Weekly.
Entertainment Weekly reported Wednesday that Coster-Waldau will in an episode of the cartoon series called “The Serfsons” airing this fall.
“[It’s] a love letter to the fantasy genre of books and movies and TV shows,” Matt Selman, the executive producer of “The Simpsons,” said of the episode.
“[Coster-Waldau] plays a character not unlike Jaime,” he added, referencing the character of Jaime Lannister on HBO’s “Game of Thrones.”
“He has a surprising and sexy connection to one of the main characters. The part is more Needle than Longclaw – but no less deadly.”
Some Twitter users on Wednesday cheered Coster-Waldau’s upcoming appearance, while others shared pictures of the actor alongside “Simpsons” characters.
At least one other people on the social media platform reacted to the news by sharing past segments when “The Simpsons” parodied “Game of Thrones.”
Entertainment Weekly reported that Season 29 of “The Simpsons” starts Oct. 1 and will feature other guest appearances including singer Ed Sheeran and basketball star Shaquille O’Neal.
Selman said that the cartoon’s creators hope that Coster-Waldau is the first of many “Game of Thrones” performers to appear on their series.
“We would love to have all of them,” he said. “Hopefully we don’t have to wait too long before they’re all killed.”
“Peter Dinklage has an amazing voice,” Selman added, referencing the actor who plays Tyrion Lannister on “Game of Thrones.” “We’re just nerds who want to meet our nerd heroes.”
Season 7 of “Game of Thrones” premiered last Sunday and included Coster-Waldau returning as Jaime Lannister.
Jaime Lannister is a member of one of the most powerful and wealthy noble families in the fantasy world of “Game of Thrones,” which was first created by author George R. R. Martin.
