The Legends Football League (LFL) is a full-contact sport featuring only female players. The league was established in 2009 and has since continued to grow in numbers worldwide.
Games are played every Saturday and air the following week on DirecTV CH. 623. The LFL is currently in 200+ TV markets.
The LFL also has its own YouTube Channel where you can gain behind the scenes access and view full length games in high definition.
There is a U.S. league comprised of eight teams, and a Canadian league with four teams.
Rules of the Game
The game is played arena-style on a field 50 yards long and 30 yards wide. Each team has seven players on the field at a time.
There are four 10-minute quarters with a 12-minute halftime and an 8-minute sudden-death overtime, if needed. Each team also has two timeouts per half.
A touchdown is worth 6 points and the teams have the option to go for a 1-point conversion from the 1-yard line or a 2-point conversion from the 3-yard line.
A safety is worth 2 points. There are no field goals, but teams can elect to punt when inside their own 10-yard line.
Cynthia Schmidt is a wide receiver for the Los Angeles Temptation and is one of the major stars of the LFL this season.
Schmidt is from Indiana, where she was actively involved in sports throughout her life. She saw an LFL game come on MTV2 years ago and decided the sport was her calling.
Schmidt spent her first three years in the league with the Las Vegas Sin until the team folded, and then she made her move out to Los Angeles to join the Temptation.
When she's not training rigorously for competition, Schmidt poses for photo shoots and takes on social media with her fans and sponsors.
