BBC has announced on Sunday that Jodie Whittaker will play Doctor Who's 13th Time Lord. BBC made the announcement on Twitter.
Peter Capaldi, who played the 12th Time Lord announced he would step down from the role last December after four years on the hit show. Whittaker will be the first woman to play the Doctor in a TV series.
Whittaker, 35, has worked in British television and film. She is best known for her role in the dective drama "Broadchurch."
According to the Associated Press the actress said that becoming the first female Doctor “feels completely overwhelming, as a feminist, as a woman, as an actor, as a human.”
