A man convicted of killing more than a dozen cats was sentenced to 16 years in jail

A San Jose man who pleaded guilty to stealing, torturing and killing more than a dozen neighborhood cats was sentenced Friday to 16 years in county jail.

Robert Farmer, 26, pleaded guilty in October to 21 felony counts of animal cruelty.

The crimes all occurred in the fall of 2015. Residents and owners of the cats alleged that Farmer had sexually abused one of the slain cats, but the judge rejected the prosecution's request that he be registered as a sex offender.

Farmer is not allowed back within 100 yards of the Cambrian Park neighborhood, according to KNTV.

He will also not be able to own or care for a pet for 10 years after his release in 2030.

This video, also obtained by TMZ, appears to show Farmer caught on camera abducting a cat.
