At least three people were killed and at least a dozen more were injured in a massive fire Friday at a Honolulu high-rise, firefighters said.
Fire Department Capt. David Jenkins said the number of fatalities could rise.
Honolulu’s mayor said the burning high-rise was not equipped with sprinklers when the blaze crept up the 26th floor of the Marco Polo condominium complex and into several apartment units.
The cause of the fire is still unknown. It took about 100 firefighters to battle the blaze. Some outlets reported that people remained trapped in the building.
