Actor Daniel Craig has decided to play British spy James Bond in a movie for the fifth time, according to The Daily Mirror.
The Daily Mirror reported Monday that producer Barbara Broccoli has secured Craig for another performance in the popular franchise’s next film.
Broccoli is also reportedly “determined” to get singer Adele to return the theme for the next Bond film, which remains untitled and will be the series’ 25th installment.
Adele sang the title song for Craig’s turn as Bond in 2012’s Skyfall, which remains the most profitable entry in the franchise at about $1.10 billion in box office returns.
Some Twitter users on Monday celebrated Craig’s return to playing Bond, a British Secret Service agent codenamed “007.”
Broccoli reportedly thinks the next Bond movie can start filming in 2018, and she is said to be talking Adele “round” to a second song for the series.
“Craig and Adele together are the winning team, the ultimate choice, the money spinners,” a source involved in the project told The Mirror.
“It’s taken time but Daniel has come round and the strong consensus in the Bond offices is that Mr. Craig is 007 again,” they added.
“As for Adele, she’s more of an unknown quantity but loved being part of Bond, so the signs are positive.”
Craig, 48, first played Bond in 2006’s “Casino Royale” and has since appeared as the iconic spy four more times.
The actor told Time Out in October that he would rather “slash my wrists” than play Bond on the screen again.
“If I did another Bond movie, it would only be for the money,” he said.
