The iconic theatre is being equipped with brand-new technology to be able to host competitive gaming events.
This move comes after partnering with Hammers Esports to form the new Hollywood Esports organization, a group dedicated to providing top-level esports entertainment and events based in the theatre.
WATCH | This will serve as the home arena for the renamed Hollywood Hammers, which contains several rosters in games like Overwatch, Vainglory and Clash Royale.
One very significant partner in this move is a company called MediaMation who specialized in interactive technology for cinematic and themed entertainment. Their partnership with Hollywood Esports marks their move into the world of competitive gaming. They will be providing the Chinese Theatre with their MX4D Motion EFX seats.
These chairs move and react according to what is occuring on screen, providing an immersive experience for the audience members who attend such events.
Professional gaming equipment and desks will be utilized on-stage for the gamers that compete to provide top-tier performance at these tournaments. In addition to the home-game events for the Hammers that are planned to be hosted, they also hope to expand to several local tournaments, reaching high school and college teams of the like.
WATCH | By doing so, Hollywood Esports aims to generate a home-grown fan-base that parallels that of traditional sports.
This is one of many theatres that MediaMation plans to expand their tech into. The Chinese Theatre is expected to be opened later in the fall of this year, where tickets will be available to purchase for those who wish to attend.
