Tennis star Venus Williams was driving "lawfully" before last month's fatal car crash in Florida, Palm Beach Gardens police said in a statement based on new footage released on Friday.
"Based on the evidence obtained in the ongoing investigation, it has been determined the vehicle driven by Venus Williams lawfully entered the intersection on a circular green traffic signal," the statement read.
The Palm Beach Gardens Police Department released new video that shows Williams entered the intersection with the light green, but was cut off by a car turning in front of her. This caused her to stop in the intersection at which point she was hit by the second vehicle.
Here is the video, obtained by the Associated Press:
"I am devastated and heartbroken by this accident," Williams said in a Facebook statement Friday.
"My heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of Jerome Barson and I continue to keep them in my thoughts and prayers."
The family of the passengers in the second car is suing Williams following the June 9 crash.
