Northwoods Mall in North Charleston, SC

Gun shots were reported at a South Carolina mall

There is no active shooter at Northwoods Mall in North Charleston, SC despite gun shots being fired there, according to The Post and Courier.

Police dispatch there reportedly said units from the Charleston County Sheriff's Office and the North Charleston Police Department are on the scene.

The mall was reportedly evacuated during Monday evening's incident, and at least one woman was sheltering in place inside the building.

North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey reportedly said that some rounds were fired and that police have a description of the suspect.

Summey added that there were no injuries from the shooting, but an older person may have fallen and some of the mall may have suffered property damage.

Some Twitter users on Monday voiced concern over the situation, which occurred one day before the July 4 holiday.

North Charleston police officials told WACH Fox 57 that there is no longer an active shooting situation at the mall.

Police said that two people were apparently shooting at each other inside the building and have since left it.

Law enforcement officials are reportedly searching for the two suspects, and police added that they believe no one was hurt in the incident.
