Kanye West has left Jay-Z's Tidal in a dispute over money and the company has threatened litigation, TMZ reported. West claims Tidal owes him more than $3 million.
News of the dispute comes after the release of Jay-Z's new album "4:44," on which Jay-Z lays into his former protege on the track "Kill Jay-Z."
"I know people backstab you, I feel bad too / But this fuck everybody attitude ain’t natural / But you ain’t the same, this ain’t KumbaYe / But you got hurt because you did cool by ‘Ye / You gave him 20 million without thinkin’ / He gave you 20 minutes on stage, fuck was he thinkin’? / ‘Fuck wrong with everybody?’ is what you sayin’ / But if everybody’s crazy, you’re the one that’s insane," Jay-Z raps.
West's lawyers notified Tidal a month ago that West felt the music streaming service was in breach of contract and their agreement was thus terminated, TMZ reported. Efforts to resolve the dispute failed, and West's lawyers issued a follow-up letter two weeks ago.
West has been unhappy with Tidal "for a long time," according to TMZ. He expected a bonus from the company after his "Saint Pablo" album brought 1.5 million new subscribers to Tidal, but it was never paid. West also claims he wasn't reimbursed for the cost of music videos. Tidal's position is that West didn't deliver the videos required by his contract.
Tidal has informed West that he'll be sued if he works with another streaming service.
Some think West's displeasure with Tidal is justified.

Others hoped it would generate art.
