Trump said he is sending feds to Chicago to help with 'epidemic' crime problem

President Donald Trump on Friday said he is sending in Federal help to address the crime problem.

"Crime and killings in Chicago have reached such epidemic proportions that I am sending in Federal help. 1714 shootings in Chicago this year!," Trump tweeted.

The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives confirmed about 20 additional agents have been sent to the city.

Trump tweeted in January, “If Chicago doesn’t fix the horrible “carnage” going on, 228 shootings in 2017 with 42 killings (up 24% from 2016), I will send in the Feds!”

The agents will work with the Chicago Police Department and Illinois State Police on a strike force to battle gun violence, according to the Sun-Times.
