North Korean state media published a report Tuesday comparing President Trump to Adolf Hitler and saying that his “America first” policy is akin to “Nazism in the 21st century," according to The Wall Street Journal.
The Korean Central News Agency said Trump’s policy is the “American version of Nazism, far surpassing the fascism in the last century in its ferocious, brutal and chauvinistic nature.”
The article goes on to call the sanctions North Korea faces “an unethical and inhumane act, far exceeding the degree of Hitler’s blockade of Leningrad.” The report further claimed that Trump’s decision to pull the U.S. out of the Paris climate accord surpasses the terror of Nazi concentration camps.
The report comes amid heightened tensions between the U.S. and North Korea after American student Otto Warmbier was released from North Korea in a coma and died a few days after. Some agreed with North Korea.
Others saw irony.
North Korea is comparing President Donald Trump to Hitler & his policies to Nazism. Critics of Kim Jong Un's regime would call this ironic.— Will Ripley (@willripleyCNN) June 27, 2017
