Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) on Tuesday vowed to explain his seemingly awkward embrace with first daughter Ivanka Trump.
We believe we have our own unclassified photographic evidence that will shed greater details on this incident.— Marco Rubio (@marcorubio) June 20, 2017
We are also attempting to acquire multi-angle video which we believe will provide greater insight into this important matter.— Marco Rubio (@marcorubio) June 20, 2017
If you were filming at the Senate carriage entrance today between 11:20-11:25 am we are seeking your assistance with an active investigation— Marco Rubio (@marcorubio) June 20, 2017
Twitter users earlier Tuesday erupted in mockery when Rubio was photographed in an uncomfortable-looking hug with Ivanka Trump, who is President Trump’s daughter.
Erica Werner, The Associated Press’ congressional reporter, posted the initial image of Rubio meeting Ivanka Trump at the Capitol in Washington earlier that morning.
The cringe-worthy picture inspired a flood of joking posts on social media about Ivanka Trump and Rubio.
Ivanka Trump was reportedly meeting Rubio and Sen. Deb Fischer (R-NE) to discuss paid family leave policy.
The first daughter has pushed for the issue to have more attention from her father’s White House.
The White House’s budget proposal purportedly includes six weeks of paid family leave as part of unemployment benefits.
