In June 2016, the Colombian government under President Juan Manuel Santos signed a peace treaty with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) to end more than 50 years of conflict. As of 2013, Colombia became the largest producer of cocaine in the world and the trade is valued at $10 billion a year.
