WATCH | The HOPE Outdoor Gallery in Austin, Texas, is a massive outdoor graffiti park where anyone with a little paint can create. Artists sign up in advance before starting a mural. The park is completely free and has become a popular tourist destination.
So many artists visit the park that a mural rarely lasts longer than a week. Hundreds of paint cans get used at the park daily.
Squidshop is one of the many artists who comes to the park regularly to paint. Quickly after discovering the HOPE Gallery, he started coming daily to improve his skills.
After opening in 2011, the gallery gradually became a popular tourist attraction.
Without a way to enforce against it, vandalism has become a major problem at the gallery. When organizers relaunch they hope to enact protocols to help keep the gallery a showcase for new work rather than "spaghetti."
