Jerry Seinfeld explained why he snubbed singer Kesha when she tried to hug him

UPDATE June 9, 8:44 a.m.: Jerry Seinfeld proves the "stranger danger" phrase will never go out of style.

Seinfeld this week explained why he denied Kesha a hug as seen in the now-viral video.

"I don't hug a total stranger," the comedian told "Extra" on why he snubbed the singer.

"I have to meet someone, say hello, I gotta start somewhere."

I don't know every pop star, I don't know everyone.

ORIGINAL STORY:  American comedian, actor, writer and producer Jerry Seinfeld isn't a fan of hugs, even with famed superstar Kesha, who was awkwardly denied an embrace three times, according to a CBS radio affiliate. To make matters worse, the gutting interaction was caught on camera.

Tommy McFly was interviewing Seinfeld at the David Lynch Foundation's Night of Laugher and Song at the Kennedy Center Monday night when Kesha had interrupted and asked the comedian for a hug.

"Hi, I'm Kesha I love you so much," the pop star said.

"Oh, thanks," Seinfeld replied.

"Can I give you a hug?" Kesha asked with her open arms.

"No thanks."

"No thanks."

"A little one?"

"Uh, no thanks."

A disappointed Kesha then stormed away.
