D.G. Yuengling and Son is the oldest brewery in America having been established in 1829. Based in Pottsville, PA, it is also the largest American owned brewery and the top craft beer company in the U.S.
Dick Yuengling bought the company from his father in 1985 and turned around the business largely on the success of their lager and black & tan beers. He is the sole owner of the company and all four of his daughters (Wendy, Jennifer, Debbie, Sheryl) work there with him. One of them will end up taking over and running the place, but it has not yet been announced which one it will be.
The beer is currently sold in 20 states.
Yuengling recently changed the packaging on their beers for the first time in 30 years.
