'Pissing Pug' briefly joined the 'Fearless Girl' on State Street, taking aim at her leg

Sculptor Alex Gardega briefly added his own piece to the growing collection of statues on State Street, placing a sculpture of a peeing animal right next to the "Fearless Girl" statue standing across from Arturo Di Modica's "Charging Bull," the New York Post reported.

Gardega's statue, dubbed "Pissing Pug" took aim at the "Fearless Girl" statue's left leg.

Apparently, "Pissing Pug" has been removed.

"Fearless Girl" was installed on International Women's Day to protest a lack of women on Wall Street. The city has extended its permit until 2018.

Gardega said he installed the "Pissing Pug" statue because he believes that the "Fearless Girl" statue degrades the intended meaning behind the "Charging Bull" statue. The "Fearless Girl" statue is "corporate nonsense," he said.

"It has nothing to do with feminism, and it is disrespect to the artist that made the bull," Gardega said. "That bull had integrity."

Do Modica called the "Fearless Girl" statue an advertising trick and asked New York City authorities to have the sculpture removed. He's suing State Street for copyright infringement.

Gardega's statue has sparked a lot of backlash on social media.
