A suspicious package at a UK college was deemed safe after a bomb squad was summoned

UPDATE 7:09 a.m. EST:  The suspicious package that prompted the response was deemed safe.

ORIGINAL STORY:  A U.K. army bomb squad has been dispatched to a college in Trafford, Greater Manchester, reports the BBC.

There's no information yet on whether this alert is linked to the Manchester Arena bomb attack, U.K. authorities said.

Several roads are closed as authorities "currently assess the situation." 

Theresa May has announced that the threat level "will remain at critical and the public should remain vigilant."
