Trump and the French president shared a super awkward, white-knuckle handshake

President Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron shared one of the most awkward handshakes of the president's tenure so far in Brussels ahead of a NATO summit when photographers noticed that Trump's knuckles were white, reports CNN

"They shook hands for an extended period of time. Each president gripped the other's hand with considerable intensity, their knuckles turning white and their jaws clenching and faces tightening," said Washington Post photographer Phillip Rucker.

This latest handshake episode has focused a lot of scrutiny on Trump's past handshakes. Some have speculated that the president views the handshake as a mini power struggle of its own.

His go-to move seems to be the tug and pull. Whether it's Vice President Mike Pence or Justice Neil Gorsuch, Trump will take the hand, drag the person towards him, and then shake.

A prime example of the "tug and pull."

Twitter's gone bananas analyzing other Trump handshakes.
