WATCH | The Yeastie Boys bagel truck is all over the L.A. food scene right now, and it's no coincidence that they've hit the perfect bagel chord.
They're kind of a bunch of lovable stoners, and you have to be a stoner to make food this good.
As you walk up to the food truck, you smell two things. Bagels, and weed. (Unsurprising, given that there's a weed fund box at the window.) But it's all part of their charm and the stoner image that's working well for them.
Meet Evan Fox, the brains behind some of the best munchy food rolling around. He debuted the truck at Coachella, 2015, and it's taken off since then. Yeastie Boys is getting coverage on all sorts of food blogs and publications.
Here's the current star: The Cheddy Wap. It's a flamin' hot Cheetos encrusted bagel with fried egg, cheesy cheddar sauce, and bacon. Served warm and gooey. Fox says L.A. crowds love this bagel
(We tried and can confirm - amazing.)
Fox says what makes their bagels stand out in L.A. is their process - hand rolled and done in the traditional New York style. They're fat, hearty bagels - chewy and with tons of flavor.
It also helps that the guys give you a good chuckle. This weed fund box is at their order window, and Fox says many customers oblige. It's all part of their stoner image - that's working incredibly well for them.
