WATCH | Authorities respond to an explosion in Jakarta, Indonesia.
A suspected suicide bombing killed the attacker and a police officer in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Wednesday, reports Reuters.
Two blasts in the eastern part of the capital city could be heard five minutes apart late in the evening, authorities said.
Some citizens were wounded and were taken to the hospital. A hospital spokesman in Jakarta said that said that that two policemen and a civilian were being treated and that all three of them were conscious.
Indonesia is the world's largest Muslim-majority nation and authorities have been worried that there might be a resurgence in radicalism fomented by a new wave of militants inspired by ISIS.
In January 2016, four militants perpetrated violence in Jakarta using guns and bombs. Eight people were killed including the four militants.
