Rep. Al Green (D-TX) said that articles of impeachment for President Trump are currently being drafted, Newsweek reported.
"I am currently crafting, drafting if you will, articles of impeachment," Green said Tuesday on C-SPAN.
Last week, on the House floor, Green called for the impeachment proceedings against the president to begin.
Since his call for impeachment, Green's offices have received racially charged phone messages, but he says he will not be intimidated.
Green did not say whether he would file a privileged resolution for impeachment. Such a resolution would have to be considered in the House in two days. He did say, however, that he would be working with constitutional lawyers.
“At some point, we’ll wait to see what others will do, and if no one else does, the president has committed an impeachable act, and I will take it upon myself to do that,” Green said.
Impeaching Trump would require a majority vote in the House and a two-thirds majority in the Senate, and both chambers are in Republican control.
