Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said President Trump's budget showed "an unimaginable level of cruelty" during a gala for the Children's Health Fund, Time reported.
"This administration and Republicans in Congress are mounting an onslaught against the needs of children and people with disabilities, women and seniors," Clinton said at the gala on Tuesday. Clinton went on to say that the budget proposal displayed a "lack of imagination and disdain for the struggles of millions of Americans, including millions of children."
Trump's budget calls for $3.6 trillion in reduced spending and includes cuts to programs such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and Social Security Disability Insurance, student loan programs and Medicaid.
"We are no longer going to measure compassion by the number of programs or the number of people on those programs, but the number of people we help get off of those programs," said Mick Mulvaney, Trump's budget chief.
Clinton's daughter, Chelsea, weighed in on Trump's budget on Twitter.
