A man got cursed out at the airport for speaking Spanish to his mother on the phone

WATCH | Hector Torres got screamed at for speaking Spanish to his mother.

Hector Torres was traveling, taking a moment in the Reno-Tahoe airport to call his mother and speak to her in Spanish, when his day was disrupted in a very loud way.

"And explain what I did to you one more time?" Torres asked the man who was screaming at him.

"Talking that f****** stupid Spanish around here when everybody else is f******* English-speaking Americans."

A man, identified only as Mike, rolled up to Torres in a wheelchair and began cursing him out for speaking Spanish.

Torres confronted Mike, filming his racist tirade. Mike continued to berate Torres, telling him to learn how to speak English despite their conversation being conducted entirely in English.

Torres began pressing Mike for an apology, at which point Mike began screaming at Torres to leave him alone. Airport authorities eventually showed up to separate the two.

According to CNN, Torres does not want to press charges. He was able to fly that day. Mike and his family were not.

Many have praised Torres for remaining calm during the incident.

The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority eventually issued a statement on the matter.

"The Airport Authority is deeply saddened to see this type of situation occur at our airport. Every passenger, regardless of race, religion, the language they speak, nation of original, sexual orientation, age or political belief is welcome at Reno-Tahoe International Airport," it read.
