Only 29 percent of Americans approve of Donald Trump firing James Comey

A new NBC/Wall Street Journal poll shows that only 29 percent of Americans approve of President Donald Trump's firing of former FBI Director James Comey, while 38 percent said they disapproved. The remaining 32 percent say they did not have enough to say on the matter.

Of those who say that they had read a lot about Trump's decision, 53 percent said they disapproved while 33 percent said the approved.

Much of the split over the president's controversial decision is along party lines.

According to the poll, 58 percent of Republicans approved of the decision while 66 percent of Democrats disapproved.

Among those who identified as independent, 21 percent approved of the decision, while 36 percent disapproved.

Some are less than surprised by the news.

However, some online also pointed out the imperfections in political polling.
