Derek Jeter wrote a heartfelt letter to New York ahead of his jersey retirement


Legendary New York Yankee Derek Jeter's No. 2 jersey is set to be retired on Sunday and before he heads to Yankee Stadium for the ceremony in front of 55,000 fans, the former shortstop penned a heartfelt letter to Yankees fans and the city of New York itself. 

And throughout 20 years in pinstripes, I learned that despite the pace and the pressure, one code truly makes this city go: Get up each day, put on your uniform, go to work, do your best, and don’t make excuses. That’s all New York ever really asks for," wrote Jeter
