A man accused of killing two Boston doctors inside their luxury penthouse was arraigned from his hospital bed Monday on two counts of murder.
Bampumim Teixeira is charged with killing Dr. Lina Bolanos, 38, and Dr. Richard Field, 49, on Friday night. Authorities have not released any information regarding a motive in the case but said Teixeira likely knew the victims.
Police found the bodies of the engaged couple after responding to a 911 call.
When officers confronted Teixeira inside the luxury condominium building, Police Commissioner William B. Evans said he fired at them. Officers fired back and hitTeixeira multiple times before arresting him. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The district attorney's office said Teixeira has two larceny convictions on his record.
Bolanos was a pediatric anesthesiologist at Massachusetts Eye and Ear and Field was also an anesthesiologist, but at North Shore Pain Management.
Authorities have not released their cause of death, but the Boston Globe reports that when police arrived, the couple's hands were bound and their throats had been slit.
Teixeira is being held without bail, according to WHDH.
