NFL wide receiver Torrey Smith and his wife, Chanel, just paid it forward in a major way for pets that need forever homes.
Smith, who recently signed to play for the Philadelphia Eagles, and his wife paid the adoption fee for 46 cats and dogs at Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS) during an event on Saturday.
"They wanted to make sure that every single one of them had an adoption application by the end of the night," BARCS explained in a Facebook post. The shelter added that the Smith family made an extra donation on top of paying the adoption fees of every animal that participated in the organization's "Pawject Runway" event.
"It was the best finale we could ask for," BARCS added. "Thank you, Torrey and Chanel, for always looking out for Baltimore's homeless dogs and cats and having such a big heart for our city."
Smith spent four seasons playing for the Ravens in addition to playing for the University of Maryland from 2007 to 2010.
