WATCH | Before Sergeant Lance Daigle finished his fourth tour in the US Air Force, he emailed a baseball team in North Carolina, the Carolina Mudcats, asking for help. He wanted to arrange a surprise for his kids, reports WLOS.
On game day Daigle's kids, Cameron and Karley, walked to the mound, believing they had won a chance to throw the 1st pitch. Behind the catcher's mask was their father, who had just returned from a 6-month deployment overseas.
After the opening pitch, Cameron and Karley approached the catcher, who took off his mask. To their complete shock, it was their father.
Players from the Mudcats said they were thrilled to help Sergeant Daigle experience this special moment with his kids.
Sergeant Daigle says he's home for the near future, with no future deployments planned.
