Former NBA All-Star Brandon Roy was shot in the leg outside of his grandmother's house near Los Angeles, reports USA Today.
According to a source who requested to remain anonymous due to the sensitivity of the situation, Roy was shielding some kids who were outside his grandmother's home.
Roy received medical treatment in California, but has already returned to Washington state to recover in Seattle.
Roy played in the NBA for six years, primarily plying his trade for the Portland Trail Blazers.
Over his career, Roy played 326 professional games averaged 18.8 points per outing. He was drafted out of the University of Washington with the sixth overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft.
