Here's why the best national food holiday is in May

WATCH | The year is full of national food holidays, but there's one in May that arguably is the best of them all.

May 11 is National Eat What You Want Day. I mean, if you need a reason for why it's the best national food holiday, it's right there in the title. Sick of kale? Fling it out the window and replace it with a hoagie or burger. Speaking of those...

May 5 is National Hoagie Day. Now that we've crowned the year's best national food holiday (the one that lets us pick and choose), let's back up a few days to celebrate the hoagie unto itself. Just be sure to skip the 10-foot hoagie Homer Simpson left unrefrigerated for waaaaay too long.

May 28 is National Burger Day. Not to be confused with National Cheeseburger Day (Sept. 18).

But go ahead, toss some cheese on there. A cheeseburger is still a burger, after all.
