Congressional Democrats are threatening a government shutdown if their Republican counterparts try to hold a vote on a health care bill between now and Saturday, CNN reported.
Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD) said he would urge House Democrats to join him in opposing a bill to prevent a shutdown if Republicans tried to bring "their harmful TrumpCare bill" to the floor.
As most of the other obstacles to keeping the government open appeared to have been smoothed over, Hoyer's comments stand out.
I would be shocked that they'd want to see a government shutdown.
House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) said he was "confident" the government would stay open, but that Democrats were "dragging their feet."
Republicans proposed a bill to keep the government running for another week late Wednesday.
