Serena Williams' announcement that she is pregnant quickly dominated social media. But apparently she never meant for a big reveal.
Williams sad during a TED conference in Vancouver on Tuesday that the photo was meant to be private, but she pressed the wrong button and posted it to Snapchat for the world to see, Reuters reports.
She said she found out she was pregnant two days before January's Australian Open, which she went on to win.
I was just saving them (for myself). I've been so good about it, but this was the one time it slipped.
Williams said the pregnancy was a bit of a distraction during the tournament, but knew she was "supposed to win that tournament."
She will be on maternity leave for the remainder of the 2017 season but expects to return to the court next year.
Since the reveal, Williams has posted heartwarming messages to her unborn child on Instagram.
Williams is engaged to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian. She is still the world's top-ranked tennis player.
