ORIGINAL STORY: An NFL draft prospect believed to be a likely first-round pick has been accused of sexual assault, WOIO-TV reports.
The player's lawyer, Kevin Spellacy, did not name which player he was representing, but acknowledged that police were investigated the accusation. No charges have yet been filed.
Spellacy said his client was in Cleveland April 8, where he met a 23-year-old woman. The next morning, police were called for an alleged sexual assault victim. The player was not there when police arrived.
Spellacy says he's given Cleveland police three separate statements from witnesses that say the claims are unfounded. The player will give a statement after the NFL draft, set to begin Thursday.
WOIO said it had asked for police records multiple times, but has not received them.
