Attorney General Jeff Sessions told Fox News on Monday the proposed Mexican border wall would eliminate all illegal border crossings.
The fate of the wall has been a hot topic in Washington as Congress battles over a budget bill. Democrats refused to touch any bill that allows funding for the wall, while President Trump has called it necessary for a budget.
The Wall is a very important tool in stopping drugs from pouring into our country and poisoning our youth (and many others)! If— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 24, 2017
Trump insists the wall is "a very important tool."
The Trump administration's stance on undocumented immigrants has been somewhat ambiguous in recent weeks. Sessions previously said that all undocumented immigrants were "subject to being deported," while Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly said Sunday the U.S. "doesn't have time to go after" all undocumented immigrants.
However, the border wall remains a controversial topic in Congress. A bipartisan group of lawmakers called the Problem solvers Caucus called for a budget bill that didn't include money for the wall, The Hill reports.
The Democrats don't want money from budget going to border wall despite the fact that it will stop drugs and very bad MS 13 gang members.— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) April 23, 2017
Trump has suggested opposing the border wall threatens Americans' safety.
