Chelsea Clinton responded to "Saturday Night Live" comedian Vanessa Bayer's awkward joke about Hillary's presidential election loss during Variety’s Power of Women New York luncheon.
Clinton was among six women including -- Jessica Chastain, Gayle King, Blake Lively, Audra McDonald, Tina Knowles, Shari Redstone -- who were honored during Friday's event.
After listing all of the event's honorees, Bayer joked, "They all have one thing in common. None of their moms are president."
While accepting her honor for her work with Alliance for a Healthier Generation, Clinton focused on the organization's efforts to combat childhood obesity through education.
“Understanding what a healthy meal choice is should not be a luxury in 2017 in the United States,” Clinton said.
But just as everyone began to think Clinton was going to let Bayer's joke slide, she began to speak about what a good example her mother set for her.
Then, she referenced Bayer's previous joke.
“Vanessa, we may be able to say in this room today that no one’s mother is currently president,” Clinton said. “But someday, someone’s will be.”
