The cast members in this musical are not actors. They're addicts in recovery.

WATCH | "Freedom Song" is a musical set in the context of a Passover Seder that depicts struggles with drugs and alcohol. The cast members are not actors, but recovering addicts who share their personal stories through song to raise awareness about what's often a hidden problem.

The Torah tells us that no soul should be left behind. That can be applied to every individual, no matter how lost.
Zander Albright, Beit T'Shuvah

The musical is part of the Music in Recovery program at Beit T'Shuvah, a nonprofit rehabilitation center in Los Angeles that teaches sobriety with Jewish spirituality.

The cast members say touring the country and spreading the message of redemption is humbling, but also forces them to be accountable. The responsibility of performing helps them maintain their sobriety.

Beit T'Shuvah has creative arts programs and work programs to encourage self awareness and independence in the steps toward staying clean.  The residential center depends on donations to offer low cost and free care to addicts in need.
