Good news for procrastinators: Tax day is Tuesday, April 18 this year.

The usual deadline is April 15, but in addition to giving taxpayers a couple extra days, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) made a few changes you should know about.

But first, be aware there is no extension for paying your tax bill, so if you owe money, they are still due Tuesday.

If you already filed your taxes, good job. Here's an IRS tool to find the status of your refund.

If you participate in the sharing economy, the IRS has specific tools for you, too.

Separately, a new law may delay refunds for some low to moderate income taxpayers who filed early. The change is supposed to help the IRS better detect and prevent tax fraud.

The IRS has already processed upwards of 101 million returns and issued $229 billion in refunds. For the nearly 40 million Americans who have yet to file their returns, the IRS says, don't panic, you can still file an extension.

"With the tax deadline approaching, taxpayers shouldn't panic. The IRS has many options available to help people as they finalize their tax returns or if they need to get extra time to file," IRS Commissioner John Koskinen said.
