Ben Carson got stuck in an elevator in Miami as Alonzo Mourning waited for him


UPDATE 9:01 a.m. EST: Carson tweeted he had a "great meeting" with Mourning.

UPDATE 8:44 a.m. EST: Carson and his wife have been freed from the elevator.

“The Secretary and his wife are out of the elevator and now meeting residents to hear about their experiences here," a Carson spokesman told Circa.

ORIGINAL STORY: Ben Carson, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, got stuck in an elevator while visiting a Miami apartment complex Wednesday morning, a Carson spokesman confirmed.

A Miami Herald reporter captured police waiting for the fire department alongside former NBA star Alonzo Mourning.
