WATCH | Losing your stuff can, apparently, be Pokemon GO-level fun.
It's the little things in life that make it worth living -- like maybe an app that turns losing your keys into an augmented reality game.
This is sort of the idea behind Pixie, a new smart finder that, unlike Tile and other sound notification-based tags, uses your phone's camera and a flutter of on-screen pixie dust to show under which pile of desk clutter you left your wallet (or whatever other gadget or valuable you want to stick a Pixie to).
Here's how it works:
Since the Pixie app leads you to your lost items with on-screen augmented reality cues, the company thinks of itself as the "Pokemon GO for your keys."
Yes, you can Pixie your favorite stuffed pup.
Pixie runs $50 for a 2-pack of finder tags and works from a smartphone-to-tag distance of 50 feet indoors and 150 outdoors, so you can't leave your purse at the coffee shop and expect Pixie-mon GO to lead you all the way back there to find it.
The Pixie app is available for iPhone right now and is coming to Android phones later this year.
