Jeep is set to reveal its most powerful SUV yet at the New York International Auto Show on Wednesday.
The new Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is equipped with a 707-horsepower Hellcat engine, which, according to USA Today, became an icon of the Dodge brand after it was used in the Charger and Challenger in 2014.
"The Jeep Grand Cherokee is now the most powerful and quickest SUV as well,” Mike Manley, head of Jeep brand, said in a press release. "The new Grand Cherokee Trackhawk delivers astounding performance numbers ... with luxury, refinement and an array of innovative advanced technology.”
The new SUV will be able to go from zero-to-60 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles told USA Today.
Manley claims that makes the Trackhawk the "most powerful and quickest SUV," excluding 762-horsepower Tesla Model X P100D, CNN reports. But an FCA spokesman told CNN the Model X doesn't count because it's a "crossover utility vehicle."
So what exactly are some of the new features of this powerful SUV (besides that crazy engine)?
The Trackhawk will come equipped with an all-wheel-drive system so the driver can select a mode based on different situations.
Compared to a typical Grand Cherokee, the Trackhawk will ride an inch lower to the ground and the vehicle's hood will have large heat extractor vents to keep the engine cool, CNN reports.
This powerful new SUV is expected to go on sale by the end of the year. So far, there is no word on how much the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk will sell for.
