Wild weather rocks the East Coast, leading to disrupted air travel and sizable hail

WATCH | Wet weather rocks the East Coast on Thursday.

They say April showers bring May flowers.

Hopefully, that's the case after Thursday's wild weather, which slammed the Nation's Capitol as well as more southern states including South Carolina and Georgia, according to the Weather Channel.

Chaos ensued at one of the country's largest and busiest airports. Roughly 1,000 flights were delayed and canceled at Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Things got so dire that Delta treated its customers with free pizza.

The tumultuous weather led to some sloppy grounds at the Masters Tournament. 

In Washington, D.C., residents discovered M&M-sized hail. Gale-forced winds even ripped the roof off a local high school.
