UPDATE APRIL 1, 2017, 12:36PM: Crayola announced Friday that it's letting crayon fans help pick its new shade of blue. Current colors already accounted for are "Blue," "Cerulean" and combinations of blue with violet and green.

How it works: Crayola fans can choose from an interactive palette and submit their choice, although Crayola will ultimately decide among the most popular choices.

Crayola says its new hue of blue will be revealed in May.

The crayon company said it plans to announce its replacement as part of National Crayon Day.

On Facebook, news of the impending color retirement brought suggestions as to which colors it should or shouldn’t be. Others lamented that Crayola is retiring a color at all.

Crayola says the color reveal will be livestreamed on Facebook on Friday morning.

Ahead of the announcement, Crayola fans had strong opinions on which color should go.
