The White House was put on lockdown after a man reportedly claimed to have a bomb


UPDATE 12:57 p.m. EST: The road closures were lifted.

UPDATE 11:42 a.m. EST:

A suspect is in custody.

UPDATE 11:35 a.m. EST: 

Fox News reports that a man claimed to have a bomb near the White House Tuesday morning. 

This would mark the  second time someone claimed to have a bomb near the White House in recent weeks. 

ORIGINAL STORY: The White House was locked down at 10:25 a.m. Eastern time, according to multiple media reports. 

Journalists locked in the press room said there were reports of a suspicious package. 

Visitors were cleared from the scene. 

Reporters were locked inside the White House press room.
