People are freaking out over this giant chicken video. And yes, it's legit.

If you haven't seen "The big chicken video," yet, sit down, grab some popcorn and prepare to be amazed and terrified all at the same time.

The video, which appears to have originally been posted in the Kosovo-based Facebook group called Shpeztaria Dekorative on March 17, features a disturbingly large chicken climbing out of its coop.

Naturally, many people suspected this was just a human dressed up in a chicken costume.

However, the myth-debunking website Snopes notes that this unusually large chicken isn't outside the realm of believability. Although most of us are more familiar with smaller breeds of chickens, Snopes notes that the bird in this video has the characteristics of a Brahma chicken.

The Brahma chicken is a large breed that's cultivated in the U.S. and can weigh up to 18 pounds, according to The Livestock Conservancy. At the turn of the 20th century, this was the most in-demand breed in the country, CNN reports.
