A pet pig is back home after he got loose and walked to Home Depot in Portage, Michigan, on Wednesday. It wasn't the Big Bad Wolf that blew this little piggy’s house down, but the 60 mph winds in Michigan.
Hamlet the pig had quite the adventurous day when he decided to walk nearly a mile to the Home Depot off of S. Westnedge Ave. in Portage.
We looked out the side door and there was a pig on the hill. He's super friendly, he's very sweet, doesn't make too much noise, believe it or not.
Amanda James, a Home Depot employee, spotted the pig roaming around the store and was shocked.
She brought the pig inside the store and gave him a ton of dog biscuits before bringing him home where she knew he'd be safe.
She then posted Hamlet's photo on Kalamazoo Area Lost Pets Facebook page, garnering almost 500 shares. "That was my first thought," said James. "This has got to be someone's pet. If it were my animal missing, I would want them to do the same thing."
I was happy, I almost cried when I finally saw him. I didn't think I would again.
Several people offered to provide foster care for Hamlet if his owner wasn’t found, but Hamlet’s owner was quickly located.
Rachael Fairbotham, Hamlet's owner, was notified in short order that her little piggy had gone to the market and he was able to go wee, wee, wee, all the way home.
