Sean Spicer wore his American flag pin upside down. People saw it as a sign of distress.

During Friday's White House press briefing, Sean Spicer wore his American flag pin upside down, and the internet interpreted it as a cry for help.

According to U.S. Code, “the flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.”

Before taking questions, a Fox News reporter came to Spicer's rescue.

"John Roberts always helping with the fashion tips," Spicer said.

But reporters continued to point out that the pin was still upside down.
