Stephen Gutierrez may have experienced the most ironic day of all time.
The Miami defense lawyer's pants caught fire Wednesday afternoon as he was arguing a case for Claudy Charles.
The kicker: Charles was facing arson charges.
Gutierrez ran out of the courtroom as his pants burst into flames, the Miami Herald reports. He returned unhurt, but with a singed pocket. He told the jury this was not part of his defense.
It was surreal.
Gutierrez, 28, blamed the fire on a faulty e-cigarette. Miami-Dade police are investigating the incident, and he could be held in contempt of court.
Charles, 48 was convicted of second-degree arson. Prosecutors said he intentionally set his own car on fire.
Naturally, Twitter had its jokes ready.
