Thirty-seven-year old Randolph Tajada-Perez, of Hazleton, Pennsylvania, was checking into a hotel, when another man came running to the front desk requesting help for a nine-year-old boy who went underwater in the hotel's swimming pool.
Tajada-Perez doesn't know how to swim, but ultimately jumped into the deep end of a pool and rescued the boy from drowning after several attempts, the Associated Press reported.
According to Fairfield police, the incident occurred at the La Quinta Inn on Thursday when a woman and her male companion were in the pool with her five children, who range in age from one to nine. Law enforcement officials said that no one knew how to rescue the boy who went under.
The boy is in stable condition, and police are calling Tajada-Perez a "hero guest."
